BISHOP, VALERIE BLANCHE (HIGGINS) At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, on Wednesday, September 29th, 2004 Valerie Blanche (Higgins) Bishop of Chipman. She was born in Salmon Creek in 1919, the daughter of Pearl (McAllister) and Harry Higgins, and is the widow of G. Russell Bishop. She is survived by sons, Neddie (Heather) Bishop of Chipman and Kevin-John (Anna) Bishop of Lincoln; by daughters Joey (Harry) Niles of Fredericton, Rubye (Paul) Leger of Rothesay and Laverne Legge of Gondola Point; by two brothers Murray (Mona) Higgins of Chipman and Orville Higgins of Gaspereau Forks; by sisters Irene Barton of Newcastle Bridge and Myra Colwell of Chipman; by sister-inlaw Verna Waddelow of Fredericton; by seven grandchildren: Rachel Haines, Troy Haines, Brad Niles, Natalie (Mike) Grant, Eugena (Brian) Fowler, John (Terri) Legge and Aaron Bishop; by step-grandson Shawn King; and by eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by sonin-law Eugene Legge, infant sister Verna Higgins, infant brother Lorne Higgins, brother Harold Higgins who was killed in the Korean War, and infant grandson Emanuel Legge. Valerie was a faithful member of the Second Chipman United Baptist Church, a past president of the Cinderella group; past president of the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion Branch Number 74 and member of the Salmon Creek Women's Missionary Society. Resting at the Chipman Funeral Home until Saturday October 2nd, 2004 when funeral service will be held from the Second Chipman United Baptist Church at 2:00 pm with Rev. John Dunnett officiating. Interment in the Second Chipman United Baptist Cemetery. The family will meet at the Funeral Home on Thursday between 2 and 4 pm and they will receive visitors from 7-9 on Thursday and from 2-4 and 7-9 on Friday.
