CHRISTENSEN, MARJORIE Marjorie Hallie Christensen (Rev.), wife of Gordon Christensen of 393 MacPherson St., Fredericton, NB, died October 12, 2004 at Nashwaak Villa, Stanley, NB. Born Hallie Marjorie Rasmussen on April 17, 1918 to the late Christian and Georgine Anna Maude (Hansen) Rasmussen at New Denmark, NB. In the early years of her marriage, Marjorie was a homemaker and a schoolteacher in New Denmark. After moving to Fredericton in 1954, she became involved in church work in the Salvation Army and later in the Pentecostal movement. Ordained to full-time ministry in 1966, Marjorie ministered in Fredericton, Black River Bridge and Saint John, NB, producing both a weekly cable television program, "Time For Deliverance" and a weekly gospel radio program from the Miramichi. The heart of her passion for ministry was to the sick and disadvantaged who were often overlooked in society. Besides Gordon, her husband of 67 years, Marjorie is survived by her three children, Carolyn (Kenneth) Howlett, New Maryland, NB; James (Barbara) Christensen, Fredericton, NB, and Brenda (Albert) Schyf, Saint John, NB. Also survived by nine grandchildren: Dr. Michael (Jane) Howlett, Jeffrey Howlett, Dr. Jonathan (Dr. Alexandra) Howlett, Peter (Amanda) Howlett, Karen (Doug Smith) Christensen, Mary Beth (Waldo) Lawrence, Andrew Schyf, Kevin (Michelle) Schyf, Stephen (Christine) Schyf; nine great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Ethel Rasmussen; and several nieces and nephews. The last surviving member of her immediate family, Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, two brothers Hartman and Hillman Rasmussen; three sisters Ida Jensen, Carrie Albert, and infant Marguerite Rasmussen; two brothers-in-law, Johannes Jensen and Joseph Albert; one sister-in-law, Louise Rasmussen; and four nephews. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr, Fredericton, NB, Thursday, October 14, 2004 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at First United Pentecostal Church, 71 Downing St., Fredericton, NB on Friday, October 15, 2004 at 2 PM, Rev. Raymond Woodward officiating. Interment to follow at Sunny Bank Cemetery, MacLaren Ave, Fredericton, NB. Remembrances may be made to Samaritan's Purse, 20 Hopewell Way NE, Calgary, AB, T3J 5H5, or to Nashwaak Villa, Inc., 32 Lime Kiln Rd., Stanley, NB, E6B 2K5, or the charity of the donor's choice.
