BETTS, TESSIE MAE (WARD) The death of Tessie Mae (Ward) Betts of the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home, formerly of Doaktown, occurred on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital with granddaughters Rhonda Doiron and Wendi Picard holding her hands. Born in Doaktown, she was a daughter of Walter and Myrtle (Storey) Ward. Tessie enjoyed quilting, preserving, especially Lady Ashburn pickles and her mollases cookies "were the best". She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Casey (John) of Toronto; one son Alfred Doak of BC; one sister, Helen Lyons of St. Stephen; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her first husband Aubrey Doak, second husband, Marple Betts; and two sons, Jimmy and Walter. Visitation will take place on Friday, October 29, 2004 at the Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, Route 8, New Bandon from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 30, at 2 pm at the Miramichi Valley Funeral Home with the Rev. Peter Velje officiating. An interment will follow the service at the Baptist Church Cemetery in Doaktown. For those who wish, donations made to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
