MRS. CHARLOTTE ELMINA (MINA) COOK
COOK, MRS. CHARLOTTE ELMINA (MINA) At the Grand Manan Nursing Home Friday, November 5th, 2004 Mrs. Charlotte Elmina Cook (Mina) passed away. Born in Marysville NB, she was the daughter of the late William and May (Handley) O'Donnell. Mina was a graduate of the New Brunswick Teachers College and the University of New Brunswick, and also a member of the Canadian College of Teachers. Over a 34 year teaching career hundreds of Grand Manan High School students learned the rudiments of algebra, geometry, physics and English under her tutelage. Following her retirement from teaching, she served as a volunteer for the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation; member of the District 22 School Board; Vestry Clerk of St. Paul's Anglican Church. In 1977, she was the recipient of the Silver Jubilee Medal in recognition of her community service. Survived by her husband, Mr. Wilbur Cook of Seal Cove; her daughters Dr. Beverly Cook (John Brander), Barbara Wishart (Barry) of Fredericton, NB; grandsons John Wishart of South Korea, and Michael Wishart of Montreal; sisters Mabel O'Donnell, Doris Stewart of New Brandon NB; brothers Eric O'Donnell (Zelda) William O'Donnell Junior (Martha), Gilbert O'Donnell (Carol) of McNamee NB, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister Mildred Clowater and baby Beatrice and baby Ivan. Visiting hours will take place from Ells Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, with the funeral service to be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church Monday at 1:00 pm with Bishop George Lemon officiating and assisted by LIC. Kevin Frankland, interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian Parkinson's Foundation.
