STELLARTON%C2%A0- Mary Elizabeth MacKenzie passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2007, in the Valley View Villa, Riverton, in her 99th year. Formerly of Saint John, N.B., Mary was a daughter of the late Spurr and Mary (Cooper) Scott. Mary was a resident of Stellarton since 1944. She was a former employee of the Goodman Company of New Glasgow. Mary was a member of the Sharon St. John United Church, where she was an active choir member for many years and was also an active member of the UCW. Surviving are a niece, Mary Platt, Otterburn, Quebec; a nephew, Dugald Scott, Alliston, Ontario; several great-nieces and nephews and Godchild, Jennifer Lynn McLaughlin, of Stellarton. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Elwood MacKenzie; sisters, Frances Mealey and Gladys Scott; brothers, Eldon and Hazen Scott; nephews, Eugene and Donald Mealey. Mary's family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to the staff of Valley View Villa for their excellent care for Mary over the past few years. Her remains will rest in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home for visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, March 19. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Sharon St. John United Church with Rev. John Roy officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will take place in the Brookside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Valley View Villa, Riverton, N.S., the Sharon St. John United Church or to a charity of one's choice.
