LEWIS, JOHN "JACK" HARRISON At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Wednesday November 10, 2004 John "Jack" Harrison Lewis of Beaverdam, NB passed away at the age of 63. Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario he was the eldest of six children. Jack began his working years enlisted in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces. After the army, he worked a variety of jobs. He was a taxi driver, he worked at Kitchen Brothers, which later became Atlantic Wholesalers. He then became employed with Canada Post as a contract mail courier, delivering mail in the rural communities of New Maryland, Nasonworth, Beaverdam and Rusagonis. This job gave him a chance to meet people and socialize, which he loved to do. He always had bubble gum for children along the mail route as well as dog bones for the dogs he would encounter on his travels. Jack worked for Canada Post until his retirement. He donated and worked countless hours helping others. He was a charter member of the New Maryland Lions Club. Jack was also part of the River Valley Clown Troop, dressing up and making balloon animals in an effort to bring a smile to the faces of children and adults alike. He also spent many years working for Pano's Restaurant at the Boyce Farmer's Market. He started working at Kings Landing this past spring, as a Blacksmith's apprentice. He is survived by his wife Leona; three daughters Theresa Bird (Doug) of Lincoln, Helen Stewart (Danny) of Lincoln, Darlene Lewis (Jimmy) of Beaverdam; one son John Jr. (Tara) of Beaverdam; three grandaughters Stephanie, Kira and Shelly; four sisters Luva Norris (Bernie), Linda Crocker (Ron), Leslie Kopysh (Gene), Margaret Schmidt all of Hamilton, Ontario; onebrother James Lewis (Robin) of Erin, Ontario; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents John Wellesley and Jessie Cameron (Cole) Lewis; brother-in-law Bob Schmidt. Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton with visitation Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at Bishop's Funeral Home on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow in the New Maryland United Church Cemetery. Memorials to Canadian Cancer Society, New Maryland United Church or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
