WARD, DOUGLAS R. The death of Douglas Ralph Ward of Oromocto occurred peacefully at his home on November 13th, 2004. Doug is survived by his wife Mary (Stevens) Ward; one son, Michael Douglas Ward (Michelle Richard); one daughter, Elizabeth Anne (Mark) Huys; two grandsons, Samuel Ward Huys and Andrew John Douglas Ward, two granddaughters, Mary Audrey Grace Ward and Grace Elaine Huys. He is also survived by his two brothers, Neil Frederick (Marjorie) Ward of Cambridge Narrows, NB and David Gary (Loraine) Ward of Nasonworth, NB and his sister, Kathryn Elaine (Doug) O'Donnell of Douglas, NB. Doug was born in Fredericton, NB on October 5th, 1940, he was the son of the late Elaine and Ralph Ward. He received his education at the Oromocto High School and the University of New Brunswick where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration. After several years employed by General Motors in Moncton, he returned to Oromocto to manage the family business, Ward's Garage, in partnership with his brother Neil. Doug has been a lifelong member of the Oromocto United Church where he sang in the choir and served on the Board of Trustees until the time of his death. He was the happiest in his garden at the camp at French Lake where he loved to welcome his children, grandchildren and good friends. His woodworking hobby provided many pieces of carefully crafted furniture with frequent consultations with his good buddy, Cliff Sanford. In the autumn he and Neil enjoyed partridge and duck hunting. We will all miss him. Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 16th, 2004 at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago Street Oromocto from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Memorial service will be on Wednesday, November 17th, 2004 at 2:00 pm from the Oromocto United Church with Margie Patterson officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Oromocto United Church Memorial Fund, the Oromocto Unit of the Extra Mural Hospital, or the Palliative Care Unit at the Oromocto Public Hospital. www.oromoctofh.com
