NEW GLASGOW – Muriel Evelyn MacIntosh, 88, New Glasgow, NS, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 30, 2007, at QE II Health Sciences Centre. Born in Kildare Capes, PEI, she was the wife of the late Allison MacIntosh and the youngest daughter of Daniel and Laura (Wallace) Getson. She was a life member of St. George’s Altar Guild, an avid card player, and in her leisure time enjoyed baking, knitting and reading. She especially enjoyed her five children, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters: Barbara (Jim) Blair, Almonte, ON; Carol (Tim) Nurse, Victoria, BC; Mary (Raymond) MacDonald, New Glasgow, NS; sons, Barry (Dianne), Riverview, NB; Herb (Debbie), Dartmouth, NS; sister, Joy Cannon, Charlottetown, PE; brother, Ralph, Dryden, ON. She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy; step-sisters: Gladys, Sophie, and Eva; and brothers, Eldon and Merle; and step-brother, John. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 2, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, New Glasgow, at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 3, with Rev. Bill White officiating. Burial to follow in the Abercrombie Cemetery. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Trust or the QE II Foundation.
