Thomas James Domenie

63, of Ketch Harbour, NS. Passed away suddenly on June 12, 2008 at the QEII Hospital. Born in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late Susanne Grandy (Barter) and Capt. Randell Domenie. Tom attended Richmond School and Queen Elizabeth High School and graduated from University of King's College and Dalhousie University. In his early years he was a member of the Fifth Field Engineers Band of the Royal Canadian Engineers. He attended St. Mark's Anglican Church on Russell St., and taught high school at J.L. Ilsley High for thirty years retiring as Dept. Head of Social Studies. He was active with the schools' student's council, alumni reunion, gentlemen's hockey, and numerous fundraisers. After retirement he was Chair of the Board of Management of St. James United Church in Sambro, and sang in the fisherman's choir as well as being Co-Chair of the Ketch Harbour Area Residents Association. He loved boating, dory rowing, family vacations, and most of all long walks with his beloved wife Sheilah. He is survived by his loving wife Sheilah Alice (Mac Askill). He was especially proud of his son Scott Domenie who graduated from Kings' as he did. He was delighted that Scott and his special girlfriend Corinne were going off on their great adventure to teach in Korea soon. He is survived by sons: James, Sackville, NS, Scott, Ketch Harbour, NS brothers: Calvin, Conception Bay South, NL and Donald, Fredericton, NB, along with many nieces and nephews. Terry, Susan Domenie; Janelle and Nathan Domenie; Colin Mac Askill and his great-nieces Jenna, Melaine and great-nephew Phillip Domenie. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Heather Anne Domenie and nephew Ryan Andrew Mac Askill. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax, NS. Funeral service to be held Monday, June 16, 2008 at 2 p.m. from St. James United Church, Sambro, with Rev. Ellen Wilson officiating. Cremation to follow with burial at a later date. Donations made to St. James United Church, Sambro, NS or Heart and Stroke Foundation NS.
