Riverton – It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother Nellie Anne MacLean of the Maritime Odd Fellows Home, Pictou and formerly of Riverton who passed away on Sunday October 28, 2007, in the Maritime Odd Fellows Home, Pictou. Born in Hillside she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Janetta Bell ( MacLeod ) Johnston. Nellie was a guest of the Maritime Odd Fellows home for the past 3 1/2 years. And had previously lived in Riverton since 1956. For a number of years she worked for J.J Proudfoot and in 1961 Nellie and her husband Gordon became business partners and started Gordon “Buck” MacLean Excavators. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, the Women’s Missionary Society and the Silver Light Rebekah Lodge #79 Hopewell. Nellie loved life and had a great sense of humour, she also had a passion for dancing, country music and singing and playing the old hymns. Her greatest memories were of the winter vacations to the Caribbean and trips to Nashville. Surviving are her husband Gordon “Buck” MacLean of Valley View Villa, Riverton A daughter Brenda (Boates) (Blaine ) Boutilier of Dartmouth. A son Barry (Heather) MacLean of Riverton. Her cherished grandchildren Chris Boutilier (Jennifer Burke) of Dartmouth, Jill (Boutilier) Trevor Nicholson of Fall River, Brandon, Cory and Marissa MacLean all of Riverton. A sister Vera MacIntosh of Trenton. Besides her parents she was predeceased by brothers William and James and a sister Mary MacKay. Her remains will rest in the H.C.MacQuarrie Funeral Home for visitation from 2-4 and7-9 P.M. on Tuesday. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 A.M. from First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in the Riverton Cemetery. A reception will follow in the church hall. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory of Nellie may be made to The Children’s Wish Foundation, the Alzheimer Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
