SMITH, HELEN RUTH It is with sadness we announce the death of Helen Ruth Smith at the Gagetown Nursing Home, on February 25, 2005. Helen was born in Lincoln, NB on June 13, 1916, the daughter of the late Reud and Viva (Nevers) Jones. She was the wife of the late Burton Smith and resided in French Lake, NB. Helen was a devoted teacher by profession and spoke often with affection of her many former students. She was the organist at the French Lake Baptist Church for over 40 years, was active in the Women's Missionary Society, and served as district president of the French Lake Women's Institute. She was very involved in community activities, and was a dedicated and proficient quilter. Helen will be remembered as always being willing to help anyone in need. Helen was predeceased by her parents, her husband Burton and brother Fred Jones. She is survived by her foster son, Darrell Rideout of Utah, her sister, Geraldine (Jim) Robinson of Cornwall, Ontario, her brother Milton (Joan) Jones of Quispamsis. She was the beloved "Aunt Helen" to her many nieces and nephews, as well as to numerous young people in her community. Helen is resting at the French Lake Baptist Church where visitation will take place on Sunday, February 27, 2005, 24 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 28, 2005, at 2:00 pm. with Rev. Roger Richardson officiating. Interment will be in the French Lake Baptist Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances can be made to the Memorial Fund of the French Lake Baptist Church, the Alzheimer Society, or the charity of the donor's choice.
