GREEN, GREGORY GUY Peacefully, in his 92nd year, with his family by his side, Gregory passed away at home on February 25, 2005. Born November 28, 1913, he was the son of the late Maxwell and Della (Smith) Green. He was the husband of Eileen (Gibson, Reid) Green. In addition to his wife of 15 years, Gregory is survived by his son Max Green of Hornby Island, BC; his daughter Norma Bishop (Roland) of Fredericton; his stepchildren Janice Hashey (David), Jim Reid (Bobbie), Brenda Peterson (Ivan), Marilyn Wathen (Bill), Rick Reid (Wendy), and Norma MaGee (Dan); 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and by sisters in law Bertha Green and Antonio Green. He is also survived by his beloved poodle Suzi. Gregory was predeceased by his first wife, Agnes (MacLellan); his brothers Quentin and Glenn, and sisters Ellen (Nellie) Calhoun, Irma Hill and Merle Carroll. Gregory was the last surviving member of his family. Gregory served in the R.C.A.F as an airplane mechanic during WWII, receiving his training at the University of Montreal, where he graduated first in his class. He was posted at Dorval, Quebec and Abbotsford, BC. Upon his return to NB in 1946 he built and opened the first full service garage in Nashwaaksis. He later started Greens Auto Salvage on this site. In 1957 he was instrumental in the founding and building of the present Nashwaaksis Baptist Church, where he was a charter member and served as a trustee. As a visionary entrepreneur, he built a small shopping centre, bringing into Nashwaaksis its first doctor, dentist, drug store, bank and automotive parts store. He built, remodelled and moved a number of houses in the present York Plaza area. He had a wide variety of interests, including fishing in his beloved Miramichi River, hunting in the Dungarvon and Dead Mans Camp, travelling extensively, and painting. He will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, honesty, creativity, inventiveness, his love for his family and friends, and for the occasional tall tale. Visitation was held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Sunday February 27 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral service and reception will be held at the York Funeral Home on Monday, February 28, at 2 PM, with Rev. Brian D. MacDonald officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Jamie Reid, Andy Reid, Richard Peterson, Jon Munn, Glenn Byrne and Jared Bishop. Internment will be held at a later date.
