NEW GLASGOW – It is with great sadness that the family of Raymond Joseph McCarron, 77, announces his passing on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Joe was born in Trenton, March 25, 1930, and was the fifth of nine children of the late William Alexander and Florence (MacKinnon) McCarron. Joe is survived by his son, Scott (Susan Larson), Calgary; daughter, Susan (Michael) Scissons, Truro; grandsons, Jordan and Nicholas; brother, Owen, Trenton; sisters: Isabel (Mickey) Murphy, New Glasgow; Helen Coleman, Sydney; Joan Leseaux, Ottawa; Kay (Jack) Rehill, New Glasgow. Joe was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Kathleen, whom he dearly missed and was patiently looking forward to being reunited with to continue their journey; parents, William Alexander and Florence; brothers, Bernard and Adrian, and sister, Phyllis. Although known for his quiet nature, Joe’s family and friends were well aware of his quick wit, love of sports, days spent at Braeshore and watching his grandsons grow. Joe was a long time member of Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. He had been retired for a number of years from the New Glasgow Fire Department. He was also a proud retiree, with 30 years of service, from the New Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department. Visitation today 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral mass 11 a.m. Monday in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Danny MacLennan officiating. Cremation to follow. A family graveside committal service will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
