BELL, JESSICA (SISTER MARY AUGUSTINE). Jessica Bell (Sister Mary Augustine), a Sister of Saint Ann, died peacefully February 28, 2005, at St. Ann's Residence, Victoria, BC, at the age of 93. Jessica will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law, Kathleen Concannon, two nieces, a nephew and the members of her Religious Community. Jessica was born December 7, 1911, in Suva, Fiji Islands, the oldest of two children born to John Warren and Jessica. In 1931, she entered the Sisters of St. Ann, Victoria, BC, and made profession July 26, 1933. Jessica received her Masters of English from Gonzaga University, Spokane, WA and her Masters of Education from St. Louis University, MO. She taught in Victoria, Vancouver, Kamloops and New Westminster, BC, Fredericton, NB, Calgary and Edmonton, AB. After her official retirement, Jessica continued to teach in a private school. She also tutored in her home for 10 years and volunteered at the Good Samaritan Centre in Edmonton. In 1995, she returned to Victoria where she continued community service, in particular visiting residents of Mount St. Mary Hospital. . In 1999, due to illness she moved to St. Ann's Residence. A prayer service was held at St. Ann's Residence, 2474 Arbutus Road, Victoria, BC, March 2 at 7:00 pm. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated by Rev. Fred Doll, OFM, at St. Ann's Residence, March 3 at 10:00 a.m. Interment took place at Hatley Memorial Gardens, Colwood. SANDS of VICTORIA 250-388-5155
