NEW GLASGOW – Rev. Robert Albert “Bob” Day, age 75, of New Glasgow, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2008, in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Campbellton, NB, he was the son of Corinne (Roy) Day of New Glasgow, and the late Robert Day. He was a retired Priest having served in the Antigonish, Halifax, Edmonton and Newfoundland dioceses. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his youth he played baseball and hockey. He was an avid skier and enjoyed playing golf. He was a member of the Pictou County Sports Heritage Hall of Fame for hockey. He is survived by his mother, Corinne Day; sister, Betty MacDonald, Antigonish; nephews, Ronnie and Bobby; nieces, Michelle and Lenore; great-nieces: Siobhan, Kali, Grace and Ava; great-nephew, Grayson. He was predeceased by brother-in-law, John D. MacDonald. Visitation 2-10 p.m. today in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church from where a Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. today (Thursday). Funeral mass 11 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the ALS Society, Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or the Pictou County VON. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
