Six Mile Brook - Richard Charles "Rick" Serrick, 88 years, Brother Street, New Glasgow, formerly of Six Mile Brook passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2007, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Harbour Grace, Nfld., he was a son of the late Daniel and Mabel (Bourne) Serrick. At the age of two months, he moved with his family to Jollimore, Halifax County. He joined the English Army in 1938 and served overseas during WWII until 1946. After the war he returned to Halifax and enlisted in the Canadian Army from 1949-1956. He then was employed with Brink's Security until his retirement. He is survived by his sister, Evelyn (Melville) Coppell, New Glasgow; special friend, June Tye, New Glasgow; and close friends: Everett McCullough (Mary), Six Mile Brook and Lori, Carson and Jenna McCullough who became his grandchildren to him. He was predeceased by his wife, Jenna; brothers, Daniel and Roy, and a brother in infancy. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral by request. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gladstone Cemetery, Four Mile Brook with the Rev. Barb Fotheringham officiating.
