It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Russell Gogan, age 68, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend on Sunday, November 30th, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Lower Maccan, he was the eldest son of the late Fidel and Elsie (Lewis) Gogan.Russell spent his working years in the coal mine, forestry, mobile home plant, and janitorial services before retiring from custodian duties at River Hebert District High in 1990. He loved to tinker with small engines in the greenhouse in his off time. He also enjoyed hunting/archery, gardening, fishing and keeping his lawns mowed. Bingo also became a hobby after retirement. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Judy (Capson); children: Arlene (Michael) Poplar, River Hebert, Edward (Jennifer), Amherst, Karen VanSnick, Saskatoon, and Wanda Gogan, Amherst; nine grandchildren: Melissa, Brandy, Catherine, Adam, Kyle, Jared, Patrick, Dorion, and Cerina; four great-grandchildren; Tyrell, Sontaye, Tegan, and Jaden, several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brother, David (Audrey), Lower Maccan, sisters, Shirley (Ron) White, Amherst, and Iona (Reg) Dwyer, Maccan. He was predeceased by brothers, John and Amos; sisters, Mary Noiles, Carol Rhindress, and Sheila Chapman. Arrangements have been entrusted to the River Hebert and Joggins Community Funeral Home, River Hebert (902-251-2877) where visitation will take place on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at 11 am from Trinity United Church, River Hebert, Rev. Lloyd Bruce officiating. Those wishing to make a donation in Russell's memory may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society or to your favourite charity. The family would like to thank Dr. Reuben and Dr. Mukherjee of the Oncology department (6600) of the Moncton City Hospital, Dr. Atkinson and the Palliative Care Department of the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre and all its nursing staff.
