(June 27, 1924 - June 15, 2008) Passed peacefully away at Lions Manor Nursing Home in Placentia, Gertrude Thelma Blackwood (Dearing) on Sunday, June 15, 2008. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, sons; Edward (Rosalind), of Sunnyside, and Peter (Anne), of Ottawa; grandchildren; Josh, Ashley, Heather and Charlie; sisters; Ina (Alf Sharpe) of Mount Pearl, and Geraldine Pennell of Carmanville. Predeceased by infant daughter and husband Albert, sister Bessie and brothers; Bram, Joe and Lloyd. Resting at St. Andrews Anglican Church, Sunnyside on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Then resting at Stacey's Funeral Home, Carmanville on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 from the Salvation Army Citadel, Carmanville with interment to follow. Donations in her memory to the Salvation Army Citadel, Carmanville. Gertie (Nan) will be sadly missed by family, lifelong friends and new friends and staff of the Lions Manor where she resided for the last three years.
