retired Works, Services and Transportation employee, passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family after a brief illness at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, June 14, 2008. Leaving to mourn. his loving wife of 43 years, Lillian (nee Gregory); two sons: Rick (Brenda) - Corner Brook; Glen - St. John's; two daughters: Pam Sullivan (Denis) - Clarenville; and Heather Shannahan (Mark) - Witless Bay; four special grandchildren: Vanessa and Stephanie Carey; Raylene Mackey; and Cameron Shannahan; one sister Rita Hagan; one brother Aiden Carey; six sisters-in-law (and card buddies): Nellie Jones (Peter), Shirley Kavanagh (Junior), Edna Jordan (Ed), Bernice Hayes (Jim), Goretta (Mary) Duggan (Kevin), and Dolores Sullivan (Lloyd); and one brother-in-law Eric Gregory (Carol Ann). Predeceased by his sisters Essie O'Keefe (Bernard) and Cecelia Hayes (Chris); and brothers Leo and Cecil. Also leaving to mourn a large number of relatives and friends. Resting at Ryan's Funeral Home, Bay Bulls, Monday and Tuesday 2 - 9 p.m. Funeral on Wednesday June 18 at Immaculate Conception Church, Cape Broyle, at 11 a.m. "We may not put our thoughts in words as often as we should, Or show how much we thought of you the way we really could, But we hope you realized, (And we think you always knew), We're very proud and glad to have had a dad like you."
