J. DOUGLAS ROGERS

ROGERS, J. DOUGLAS The death of J. Douglas Rogers of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the Veterans Health Unit on May 13th, 2005. Born in Alix, AB, he was the son of the late Stanley and Estella (Coburn) Rogers and the husband of the late Marjery (Cook) Rogers. Doug was a professor of Electrical Engineering and was the assistant Dean of Engineer at UNB until he retired in the 1980's. He was a staunch supporter of the UNB Athletics' and was the Athletic Advisor for many years. While Doug was attending UNB in the early 40's he played basketball and was coach for Fredericton High and UNB basketball through the 1940's and 1950's. He was a member of the St. Paul's United Church and the Capital Y's Men's, Fredericton Golf and Curling Club and the Fredericton Golden Club. Survived by two sons, Peter and Ronald both of Fredericton, NB; one sister, Jean (Smythe) MacDonald of McAdam, NB. There will be no visitation by request. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul's United Church on Tuesday, May 16th, 2005 at 11:00 am Rev. David Fisher will officiate. Interment will be in the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, memorial tributes may be may to the Alzheimer's Society. www.mcadamsfh.com
