Ellen Marie Melanson, Glenholme, passed away on Jan. 29, 2009, at home. Born on May 13, 1946, in Annapolis Royal, she was a daughter of the late Harley and Kathleen (Deveau) Melanson. Ellen worked in health care for most of her working life, as a nursing assistant in the Camp Hill Hospital and later as an operating room technician at the Victoria General Hospital. She retired from nursing due to medical reasons. Ellen had many interests, including reading, knitting, quilting, music, travelling and spending time with friends. She is survived by sisters, Evelyn (Norman) Gaudet, Digby; Erma (John) Sitser, Debert; brother, Eric (Millicent) Melanson, Annapolis Royal; nieces, Paula, Charlene, Anna and Marie; nephews, Guy, Michael, Wilhelm and James; several great-nieces and great nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 1 to 2 p.m., with funeral service following at 2 p.m., both in the Debert Baptist Church, 1258 Plains Road, Debert. Pastor Bill Martin officiating.
