LIDA MABEL PORTER

PORTER, LIDA MABEL The death of Lida Mabel Porter of Fredericton occurred Monday, June 20th, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Rothwell, NB she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Surilla (Kelley) Parker. From 1952-1954 Lida had worked for Brown's Meat Market and from 19561962 was the owner and operator of Porter Grocery on Gibson Street, Fredericton. She was a member of the Barkers Point Seniors Club and was a member and attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Fredericton. She is survived by her son Carl Porter (Marlene Latchford) of Rothesay, NB; 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Vera McGaghey of Kamloops, BC and Nathalie Anderson of Minto as well as several nieces and nephews. Lida was predeceased by her husband, Herman Porter; 2 daughters, Alma Spencer and Ruby (Foster) McFadzen; 2 grandsons, Douglas Foster and Arnold (Buddy) Foster; sons-in-law, Arnold Foster and Sonny McFadzen; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Porter; 5 brothers, Caleb, Alfred, Willard, Stanley and Marven; 5 sisters, Lola, Phyllis, Mary, Muriel and Beatrice. Visitation will be held at the Minto Funeral Home (327-3490) on Wednesday evening from 7-9pm and at the Calvary Baptist Church, Fredericton on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Rev. Doug Adamson will conduct a funeral service 11:00 AM, Friday, June 24th, 2005 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 845 Regent Street, Fredericton. Interment will take place Friday at 2:00 PM in the United Baptist Cemetery, Minto. For those who wish, donations made to the Calvary Baptist Church, the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of ones choice would be appreciated by the family.
