JAMES S. MCGILLAN

MCGILLAN, JAMES S. The death of James S. McGillan of Fredericton, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on July 7th, 2005. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland on December 7th, 1934, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Duncan) McGillan. James served in the Cameron Highlanders of Scotland from 1954 to 1959 overseas, Korea, Africa and the Middle East. He came to Canada in 1959 to play professional soccer in Montreal. He was a cabinetmaker by trade. He was last employed by Solicitor General. James was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4. Survived by his wife Patricia (Michaud); three sisters, Elizabeth Knox (late John Knox), Kathleen Morrison (late Robert Morrison) and Winnie Cormack (late Charles Cormack) all of Edinburgh, Scotland, also many nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation by request. A private family Memorial Service will be held on Saturday July 16th, 2005 at 1 pm from the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ken Weir officiating. Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 will hold a tribute service at 12:45 pm. No flowers by request. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the SPCA.
