Corporal James Leroy Duggan

56, Truro, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his loving family on Saturday, June 14, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim "Leroy" was born on April 2, 1952 in Antigonish,N.S. He joined the RCMP in April 1973 and spent his 35 years of service in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, ski-dooing and motorcycling to name a few. Also, a sports enthusiast, who enjoyed playing and coaching hockey for many years. Most of all he was a wonderful husband and father. Forever loved, remembered and truly missed by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Kimberley and his son, Neil (Sonya); parents, James and Effie; brother, Michael (Beryl); sisters, Sheila Dwyer, Peggy (Max), Joan Rule (Brad) and Annette; numerous nephews, nieces, extended family as well as a large circle of friends. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 17 with prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18 in St. Ninian's Cathedral, Antigonish, Father Dan MacDonald officiating with burial in St. Ninian's Parish Cemetery, Antigonish. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada at www.braintumour.com or the QEII Research Foundation for Brain Cancer.
