Nestor Leona Nestor passed away peacefully at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital on April 12, 2008 at the age of 89 years. Born August 28, 1918 at Hyas, Saskatchewan. She married Bill Nestor in Moose Jaw on June 30, 1940. She was a long time employee at the Providence Hospital and member of St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church. It was there she logged in countless hours making perogies and cabbage rolls. Her favorite past-times were dancing, having coffee with friends, playing Bingo, baking and entertaining. Her special passion was tending to her beautiful flower beds and bountiful garden - especially her red poppies that were admired by many and even featured in the Moose Jaw Times Herald. Leona was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) of 59 years (Dec./99); her son, Raymond (Nov./07); parents: Sam and Annie Keveryga; sisters: Helen Lenych, Mary Reznik, Lily Rapchuk, Pauline Aakre, Nettie Marak, Madeline Prysanki, Olga Wetaski, Pearl Golda and brother, John Keveryga. Leona is survived by her grandchildren: Jody (Don) Walliser - Calgary, Barry (Michele) and Robert - all of Saskatoon, and their mother, Marge Nestor - Regina; great-grandchildren: Alexa-Rae, Carlie, Cameron, Brett, Olivia and Joel; sisters: Katherine Kuzik - Sturgis, SK. and Josephine Melnik - Simcoe, ON; her brother, Bill (Florence) Keveryga - Calgary, as well as many nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. Leona's family would like to express their appreciation to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Staff, Ina Grafton Gage Home Staff, as well as the many family members and friends who helped us out with Grandma when we could not be there. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday from 11a.m. until 12 noon at the Funeral Home. For those so wishing, memorials may be made to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, 2360 - 2nd Avenue, Regina, S4R 1A6. In living memory of Leona, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.
