VELMA PEARL MCKAY

MCKAY, VELMA PEARL Velma P. McKay of Canterbury, NB, passed away September 16, 2005 at Carleton Memorial Hospital, Woodstock. Born at Upper Hainesville, NB in 1919, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Cledia (Hoyt) Jones. Velma was a member of Abundant Life Pentecostal Church, Meductic. She loved knitting, sewing, cooking, playing the harmonica and doing jig-saw puzzles. Velma enjoyed gardening and the outdoors and especially time spent with her family. She is survived by four sons, Beverly McKay (Sharlene), Minto, Bernard McKay (Greta), Waasis, Garnett McKay (Dianne), Lincoln and Justice McKay (Ivy), Bedell; one brother, Olin Jones (Iva), Woodstock; one sister, Vivian Hill, Howland Ridge; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Velma was predeceased by her husband, Chauncey P. McKay, four sisters, Neva Morehouse, Evelyn Jones, Annie Wallace and Mildred Billings, three brothers, Guy, Kenneth and Fred Jones and a grandson, Bernard Jr. McKay. Resting at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic with visiting hours Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Rev. Darrell McLellan officiating. Interment will be in Ridgeview Cemetery, Upper Hainesville, NB.
