QUIGG, MARGARET AMANDA (MACDONALD) She has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has enjoyed the trust of many friends, gained the respect of intelligent men and women, and the love of little children; who has filled her niche and accomplished her task; who has left the world better than she found it, whether by acts of kindness, devotion to family or work for a better community; who has never lacked appreciation of Earth's beauty nor failed to express it; who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best she had; whose life was an inspiration; and whose memory a benediction. Born February 2, 1914, in Mount Pleasant, N.B. and passed away peacefully October 6, 2005. Margaret Amanda MacDonald was the oldest daughter of Cassie (Smalley) MacDonald and Herbert MacDonald. She graduated from Fisher Memorial High School and trained at Fisher Memorial Hospital in Woodstock, before leaving early to marry William (Bill) Russell Quigg in 1933. In 1949, she and her husband worked closely to establish Commercial Publishers and a weekly newspaper, The Capital Free Press, in Fredericton, where she worked and continued as an officer for 42 years, until it closed in 1991. Born with a strong social conscious and a desire to give back to her local community, she served as an officer and working member of many organizations, and volunteered her time to worthy causes until her death. Some of these included the Pythian Sisters, Regent of Picardy Chapter IODE, Provincial Organizing Secretary of the Provincial Chapter IODE; Womens' Liberal Club; IODE Clark House Board; President of the DECH Hospital Auxiliary; Meals on Wheels, among others. She was a lifelong Anglican, and a member of Christ Church Cathedral in Fredericton. She is survived by one son, Herbert (Diane) Quigg of Davidson Lake (Dumfries); one daughter, Barbara Landry of Fredericton; seven beloved grandchildren: Sharon (Sean) Donnelly, William (Bill) (Dorothy) Quigg, John (Bonnie) Landry, Thom (Janine) Landry, Donna (Chris) Mulholland, Misty (James) Nowlan and Greg Quigg (Roseanne Saunders); and 14 great grandchildren: Jared Crain; Katie Keetch; Matthew, Patrick and Andrew Mulholland; Chris Buckingham and Greg Landry; Liam and Ethan Landry; Matthew and Brandon Nowlan, and Gregory Quigg and Jasmine Saunders; one sister, Ruth Gartley and brother-in-law Ralph Gartley; sisters-in-law Faye Lenehan, Jean Rushton, Ruth MacDonald and Rowena MacDonald, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband William (Bill) who died in 1970; two brothers, Hazen and Charles MacDonald, and two sisters Mildred MacDonald and Lillian Flewelling. Resting at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home in Fredericton, public visitation will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m, and Sunday, October 9, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2005, at Christ Church Cathedral in Fredericton, with Dean Keith Joyce officiating, and Rev'd Neville Cheeseman assisting.
