MARGARET SHALM

Margaret was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Fredericton. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Margaret later moved with her family to Vancouver at the age of 17, where she lived for five years before marrying Rev. George Shalm. They pastored for a short time in Dapp, Alberta, after which they were appointed as missionaries to the land of India. Margaret's sense of devotion and her deep prayer life touched both young and old. As a pastor's wife, Margaret served alongside George in Nova Scotia, and in Ontario. In 1976, she moved with him to Fredericton, where he served as Principal of the United Pentecostal Bible Institute. In 1982, Margaret and George were once again appointed as a missionaries to Asia. A year later, George was appointed Regional Field Supervisor for Asia. She moved with him, first to Pakistan and later to St. Louis. When George passed away in 1988, Margaret settled in Fredericton, where she was actively involved in the church until her recent illness. She is survived by her three sons and their wives; Allan and Georgene, missionaries in Pakistan and South Asia; Lynden and Katherine, Foreign Missions Division, St. Louis; and Warren and Linda of Napanee, Ontario; her brother Arthur Colebourne of Vancouver; her brother-in-law Wilfred Marshall of Vancouver; her grandchildren; Krister; Kamala and her husband, Eric; Jordan and his wife, Ryan Alexis; Lindsey and her husband, Chad; and Koel; and her close family friend Cheryl McBride and her husband, Richard.
