Skwarchuk, Steve After a brief illness on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008 with his family by his side. Steve in his 92nd year, beloved husband of Katie for over 68 years. Loving father of Iris Magee (late Bill) and Adeline Muntean (Wayne). Cherished grandpa of 10, great-grandpa of 21 and great- great-grandpa of 5. Steve will be missed by his brothers Metro (Ann) and Bill, his sister Thelma and sister-in-law Sally and by his many nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Wasyl and Annie Skwarchuk (nee Magdych), brothers George and William, by his sister Mary, sister-in-law Georgia and brother-in-law John. Steve was born in the District of Drobit, SK. near Springside on February 24th, 1917 to Bill and Ann Skwarchuk. He lived most of his early years in the Springside area, marrying Katie when he was 23. The couple farmed and began raising their 2 daughters until the family moved to Moose Jaw in 1955. In Moose Jaw, Steve held a few different jobs, working at St. Anthony's Home, the CPR and for the Saskatchewan Dept. of Highways building bridges. He retired formally in 1983, however remained active at St.Vladimir's Orthodox Church and spending some time traveling to British Columbia and to Ontario. He loved music, playing the violin and the cimbala and could usually be heard silently whistling a tune under his breath, especially while he was working in his garden. Friends are invited to attend Prayers at the Parkview Funeral Home, 474 Hochelaga St. W. on Monday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. with prayers commencing at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Church, 673 Grandview St. W., Moose Jaw at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
