McLAUGHLIN, MAURICE KEITH The death of Maurice McLaughlin of Burton, NB, occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Saturday, October 22, 2005. Born on June 16, 1918 in French Lake, NB he was the son of the late Ernest and Grace (Wood) McLaughlin and husband of the late Patricia (Houston) McLaughlin. Maurice was a Staff Sergeant during World War II with Field Artillery. After the war he worked in heavy construction helping to build both the Burton Bridge and Mataquac Dam. He spent 10 years at UNB working as a carpenter and spent the last 8 years of his life enjoying one of his favorite hobbies, building Cedar Canoes. He is survived by his step-sons, David Bartlett (Linda) of Sheffield, NB, Harold Bartlett (Patricia) of Port Aux Basques, NL, Richard Bartlett (Fran) and Frederick Bartlett (Daisy) both of Chilliwack, BC; his brothers, David of French Lake, NB, Billy of Geary, NB, Jack and Howard both of Rusagonis, NB; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Robert, Donald and Leland and his sisters, Edna, Margaret and Bessie. Visitation will be held at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Monday, October 24, 2005 from 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Weaver officiating assisted by Senior Pastor Jeff Benson. Interment will take place in the Burton Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Oromocto Baptist Church. www.oromoctofh.com
