SMITH, W. ADA SNOW (STEVEN) "BONNIE" The death of W. Ada Snow (Steven) "Bonnie" Smith of Fredericton, NB wife of Lawrence B. Smith occurred on Friday November 4, 2005 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in 1918 in Moncton, NB she was the daughter of the late W. A. Douglas Steven and Berferd (Snow) Steven. Survived by her husband Lawrence; one son, J. Brian Smith (Sharon) of Fredericton, NB and one daughter, Trinda Graham (Gordon) of Woodstock, NB; four grandchildren; Courtney Comeau (Sean) of Fredericton, Matthew, Joel and Megan Graham of Woodstock, NB; one brother W A Douglas Steven (Ruby) of Moncton, NB; one niece, Joy Patterson (Carl) of Moncton and one cousin, Kathleen McFarlane of Fredericton, NB. Ada was a member of the Nashwaaksis United Church. She received her early education in Moncton and graduated from High School at Villa Teresa, Newcastle, NB. She graduated from Provincial Normal School, Fredericton, NB in 1939 and taught school for two years at McKee's Mills. Ada graduated from Saint John School of Nursing in the class of 1944, followed by 2 Post Graduate courses in Ob and Gyn at Chicago Lying-in-Hospital and was awarded the Dora De Lee Scholarship for a course in Teaching and Supervision in Ob and Gyn Nursing with experience in Medical Art; she returned to NB and supervised for a short time in Obs Nursing at Saint John General Hospital. In 1950, Ada graduated from Dalhousie University in Halifax in Public Health Nursing, and was a public health nurse in Saint John, Fredericton and Woodstock, NB. Ada attended Ontario College of Art in Toronto and was for years a member of the Fredericton Art Club and the first President of the Woodstock Art Club; she was a member of the I.O.D.E. chapters in Moncton, Woodstock, and Fredericton; and member of Capital Y's Menettes in Fredericton. She was associated with the Maine Historical Society, a member of the NB Genealogical Society and a member of Society of Mayflower Descendants. Ada, together with her husband, Lawrence, served as volunteers for Meals on Wheels and NB Provincial Archives. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday November 8, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at the Nashwaaksis United Church, Main Street, Fredericton on Wednesday November 9, 2005 at 2 PM with Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating and Rev. Brian MacDonald assisting. Interment will take place in the Woodstock Rural Cemetery. The family encourages tributes be made to the Memorial Fund of Nashwaaksis United Church, the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.
