VROOM, CHARLIE The death of Charlie Vroom, husband of Alice (Stewart) Vroom, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on November 20, 2005 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on March 24, 1925 in St. Stephen, NB, he was a son of the late Karl Hendrick and Greta (Mott) Vroom. Charlie was a retiree from University of New Brunswick as an Audio and Visual Technician as well as the Canadian Armed Forces. He was chairman of the membership of the Service Corp. Association, a member of the Peace Keeper Association "The Blue Helmets" and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 78, Boiestown, NB. Mr. Vroom served in World War II from 1941 - 1942. He served in the Service Corp. from 1943 - 1967, in Egypt in 1956 and in 1957 as a Peace Keeper. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Karl Vroom (Susan) of Fredericton, NB; four daughters, Donna Vroom of Calgary, AB, Ferne Clark (Larry) of Scotch Lake Road, Linda Merrithew (Terry) of Douglas, NB, Mary Schmidt (Myron) of Calgary, AB; 11 grandchildren and four great - grandchildren; one sister, Betty Day (Donald) of Saint John, NB; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Guy Mott and three sisters, Francis Whittaker, Eleanor Prosser and Celia McConnell. Although there will be no visitation by request of the family, a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at 2 pm from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Cathcart officiating. Royal Canadian Legion, Service Corp. Association and Blue Helmets will gather for a tribute service in conjunction with the memorial. Interment will take place at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St. Stephen, NB.
