DONOVAN, PAUL DANIEL Paul Daniel Donovan of Woodstock, beloved husband and best friend of Noella Jean-Marie (Ferguson) Donovan, died at home on Friday, November 25, 2005 after a courageous battle with heart, cancer, and kidney disease. Born at Canterbury, he was a son of the late Harry and Mary (Collins) Donovan, and husband of the late Kathryn "Babe" (Buck) Donovan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Danny (Margaret Mullen) of Fort McMurray, Alberta; and three daughters, Kathy (Gary Siddall) of Canfield, Ohio, Joanne (Alfred Bone) of Oshawa, Ontario, and Patricia (Peter Scales) of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He also leaves to mourn his pride and joy, eight grandchildren: Kathryn, Shawn, Kendra, and Scott Siddall; Samantha and Alexander Scales; and Paul and Erika Bone; one brother, Charles (Caye) Donovan; two sisters, Gertrude (Kenneth Karnes), and Patricia (Richard Keilty), and sister-in-law Theresa (Buck) Donovan, all of Woodstock; his mother-in-law, Georgina Ferguson; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and forty-two nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by a son, Andrew Cyril (Darla Barton) and his brother, Gerald. Paul enjoyed his family and friends, and always looked forward to his summers at Skiff Lake. His dog, "Poppy II" was his faithful companion. He was an employee of R. V. Thompson Insurance and Real Estate for many years, travelling throughout Carleton and Victoria Counties to provide services to his clients. Paul was very active in St. Gertrude's Catholic Church and faithful to the Knights of Columbus Council 2234, and the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Brown Assembly 4th Degree where he held the positions of Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator, Treasurer, and Trustee. He was also a member of the Woodstock Lion's Club, and occupied every position of the executive and participated in visitations made by the club. Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, with visiting on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 AM from St. Gertrude's Church. Rev. Bill Brennan will be the Celebrant, with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
