WILLIAM LYON MACKENZIE (MAC) KING
KING, WILLIAM LYON MACKENZIE (MAC) William Lyon MacKenzie (Mac) King of Woodstock passed away at the Carleton Memorial Hospital on Friday, December 23, 2005, at the age of 77. Born at Fredericton, he was the son of the late Edward M. and Mabel (Doherty) King. Mac is survived by his wife of 55 years, A. June (Scott) King; two daughters, Susan Warrell (John) of Fort McMurray, Alberta, and Mary Jane O'Donnell (Keith) of Duncan, British Columbia; three grandchildren, Adam Warrell, Katie O'Donnell, and Clinton O'Donnell; a great grandson, Jimmy Brown; a sister, Vivian Wright (Byng) of Fredericton; and several nieces and nephews. Mac was predeceased by an infant son, Robert Edward King; brothers Lee L. (Satch) King and John L. King; sisters Doris Draper (Leith), Shirley Pugh (Roy), Nelda Clewey (Edward), and infant sister Elizabeth. Mac was a photographer with Harvey Studio in Fredericton until 1973 when he moved to Woodstock and became owner of King's Studio Ltd. While living in Fredericton, he was very active in bowling and curling with the Fredericton Curling Club, and was a member of Wilmot United Church where he served on the Board of Stewards and was leader of a Sigma group of boys for many years. He served for a year in the Royal Canadian Air Force following the war, and was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Royal Canadian Air Force Association. After moving to Woodstock, he became a member of the Woodstock Rotary Club and the Woodstock Curling Club, of which he served as President for a term. Mac enjoyed his years of being life-long president of the Downtown Woodstock Liar's Club. He was a Past Patron of the Victoria Chapter # 1 Order of the Eastern Star. He was a great member and helped with whatever had to be done. He was commissioned as a Grand Representative to Indiana from New Brunswick this past year. Mac joined the Masonic Lodge in 1975 and became a Shriner in the years following. He was a member of the Woodstock Lodge No. 11 F. & A.M., the Upper Saint John Valley Shrine Club (former President) and Luxor Provost (former President), Luxor Shriners A.A.D.N.M.S. of New Brunswick. Visitation will take place at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, on Saturday, January 14, 2006 from 7-9 PM. A Masonic Tribute will be held at 7:00 PM, followed by an Eastern Star Tribute. The funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 PM from the Scott Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Fred Snyder officiating. A reception will follow a the Masonic Hall , Neilson Street, Woodstock. Mac wished that remembrances be made to the Shriner's Transportation Fund for Children, or to the family. June, Susan, and Mary Jane wish to thank everyone for their help at the time: to the Doctors and nurses at the Carleton Memorial Hospital and in ICU at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton; to the Masonic Lodge and Shriners, the Eastern Star Members, and all of the friends who sent food, cards, letters, and especially the phone calls. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
