STUART JAMES ALLAN
ALLAN, STUART JAMES Stuart passed peacefully on January 29th at the Veteran's Health Unit, Fredericton where he was a resident for over two years. He was the loving husband to Vi (Burnside) who was devoted to him throughout their 59-year marriage and most especially his constant companion at the Veteran's Health Unit. Stuart was the loving father of Venerable Stuart (Leslie), Sandra and Merle. He was predeceased by daughter Wilmalee, brothers Dean and Raymond Allan, sisters Annie Stevens, Emily Boyle, and Jean Perry, and daughter-in-law Nancy. He was the loving grandfather of Holly, Matthew, Rebecca (Michael), Peter (Lindsay), Caitlin, Kimberly (Craig), Michelle, Stephanie, Merle Jr.(Lesley), Gavin and Garrison. Stuart was the proud great grandfather to Connor, Spencer, Amanda, CJ, Tyler, Clinton, Cody, Benjamin, Nicholas, Breanna and Ava. He leaves to mourn a large extended family including stepmother Helen Allan of Rothesay, brother Joe, sister Dora Watson of Saint John, as well as stepbrothers and sisters, Filmore, Kenneth (Judy), James, Richard (Lisa), Gary (Cindy), Peter (Karen) and Carol as well as many nieces and nephews. Stuart proudly served his country during World War II in the Royal Canadian Artillery on Partridge Island and Labrador and served in United Kingdom and continental Europe with the Queen's Own Rifles. After the war, Stuart and his family lived in Oromocto where he worked in Supply and Logistics at CFB Gagetown for 28 years before his retirement. He was a faithful member of St. John's Anglican Church where he served as church warden and sometime delegate to Diocesan Synod for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and the Canadian Legion. In his retirement Stuart and Vi enjoyed traveling and visits with his family. Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Monday, January 30th 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Centennial Lodge will conduct a Masonic Lodge Tribute at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at St. John's Anglican Church, Oromocto on January 31st at 2:00 pm with Rev. Keith Howlett officiating. Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93 will conduct a graveside tribute. Interment will be in the St. John's Anglican Cemetery.
