Born in Saltvik, Finland he is survived by his wife Janet Blackadar, his children Erik Wirtanen (Amy) and their children Noah and Tessa of Victoria B.C; Liz Wirtanen of St. Jerome Que. and Morgan Wirtanen of Nasonworth.
