Ellen Margaret Peck

(nee Kirby) Born November 15, 1917, Lamaline, Newfoundland. Margaret was an exceptional mother, wife, grandmother, elementary school teacher, tireless volunteer for community organizations, past president of the Anglican Woman's Auxiliary of the Qu'Appelle Diocese, Saskatchewan, licensed sub deacon for the Kootenay diocese, British Columbia, fundraiser, hospital chaplain and hospice worker. Margaret passed away peacefully on, June 12, 2008, following a very long heroic struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Ron Peck, her father, the Rev. Hugh Kirby, mother Flora Kirby (nee LeMessurier), six brothers, one sister, and three sisters-in-law. She is survived by her children, Hugh, David (Patricia) and Donna (Tom) Deis and her grandchildren, Tasha Peck, Aaron Peck, Eric Deis, Sandra Deis and Laura (Brent) Riel. She was raised in Port Rexton/Trinity East, and Harbour Grace, Newfoundland. She graduated from Memorial University at St. John's, Newfoundland. A war bride, she left her native land to be with the love of her life, first in Saskatchewan and then retirement in British Columbia. Margaret will be deeply missed by her beloved children and grandchildren and all those who loved her. She will be remembered for her optimism and magnanimity, her sense of humour and forbearance, her compassion and moral fortitude, her knitting, her service to the community and her devotion to her parents and family. The family wishes to thank Dr. Eric Baasch, all the staff of Weatherby 1 at Peace Arch Hospital, in White Rock.
