COLWELL, WINIFRED MARGARET The funeral for Winifred Margaret Colwell was held, Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006 at the Carleton Co-Op Funeral Home in Jacksonville, NB, with Rev. Leonard Cousins of the Woodstock United Baptist Church presiding. The eulogy was presented by Dr. Wayne McLaughlin, music by Jennifer Donahue, organist was Roberta White. Winifred passed away peacefully on February 10, 2006 at age 96, at Carleton Memorial Hospital, Woodstock, NB. Born in South Wales, UK, Dec 10, 1909, immigrated to Canada in 1926. Predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Stephen Davies; husband Percy, sisters Olwen and Rowena; brothers John, Douglas, Benjamin and Leonard. Survived by son Douglas (Marie) of Fredericton, and daughter Dorothy (Dale) Donahue, Houlton, Maine, sister-in-law Christine Davies, two granddaughters, Lorraine (Bill) deMoyne and Catherine (Dana) Coughlan; three grandsons, Tim, Tom (Kelly) and Stephen (Lauren) Donahue, and 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by brothers Bill Davies of Vancouver, BC and Dave Davies of Oshawa, Ont. Before retirement she was a supervisor and nursing instructor at the Carleton Memorial Hospital; member Woodstock United Baptist Church; received Merit Award from the NB Cancer Society; involved in the local Nursing Alumni Chapter and numerous other organizations. Her focus in life was her family, especially the grandchildren. She loved to serve others by caring for the sick; by knitting, making baby sets for the hospital; cooking and delivering food and other goodies to friends; and knitting socks and mittens, quilted numerous quilt designs. She loved to paint and cook and was an avid reader. Interment will take place in the spring. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Carleton Manor, hospital nurses, doctors, family, friends for the kind care extended to her and family.
