(nee Billard) Passed peacefully away on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, Gertrude Thistle in her 88th year. Predeceased by her daughter Sylvia Spurrell and infant son David. Leaving to mourn with fond memories her loving and devoted husband of 68 years Stephen; daughters Elizabeth Heatley (John), Jean Kean (Wince) and Brenda Thistle (Ray Rowlands); sons John (Sharon), Brian (Betty) and Clarence (Bev). Also leaving to mourn sister Jean Squires; brother-in-law Jim Thistle (Sybil); 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and then on Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, 2to 4 p.m. and 7to 9 p.m. Funeral service to be held from First United Church, Mount Pearl on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
