Beatrice Mary (Maisie) Hinchey (nee Wells) passed away peacefully on June 29th at the age of 101. She asked to go and was granted her wish. "Amazing Maisie" as she was known to her friends has lived at Glenfair since 1977. She was born in Moose Jaw, Sask. and graduated in nursing from the Moose Jaw General Hospital. She nursed in Moose Jaw, Calgary, Cranbrook, Kelowna, Kitimat and Kamloops and retired in 1975 . She was married to William Leslie (Bill) Hinchey who predeceased her in 1972. Her son Sheldon died the same year. She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Grant and his wife Marilyn, nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A celebration of Maisie's life will be held at St. Paul's Cathedral in Kamloops on July 9th at 10:30 a.m. with a gathering in the hall following the service. The family requests no flowers. On-line condolences may be expressed at www.schoenings.com Maisie's favourite charities were the War Amps, Canadian Friends of Vietnam, Free the Children (Maisie's school in Sierra Leone) and St. Paul's Church in Kamloops. The family is very grateful for the loving care Maisie received at the Royal Inland Hospital, the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home and from her friends.
