CRAIGS, WALTER RAY The passing of Walter Ray Craigs of Fredericton, husband of the late Dorothy (Day) Craigs occurred on Friday, June 16, 2006 at the DVA Veteran's Unit. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, he was the son of the late Walter and Annie (Cassidy) Craigs. Walter worked at Richards Electric and was a Sound and Language Technician for the New Brunswick Legislature. He was a sergeant in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII, served with the Navy as a Radar Mechanic and served some time in Iceland. He was also a member of the Ham Radio Club, enjoyed computers and computer games. Wally will be remembered for his sense of humor and his kind heart. He was always ready to help someone in need. He was a loving, supportive father and grandfather. Walter is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Christopher) Burden of Fredericton, NB; one grandchild, Jillian (Mark) Magee of Fredericton; one great grandchild, Matthew Magee; one brother, Douglas (Nan) Craigs of Edmonton, AB; three sisters, Jean Craigs, Marjorie Atherton, and Barbara (Eldridge) Wilkins all of Fredericton, NB; one sister-in-law, Francis Craigs of Fredericton, NB; several cherished nieces and nephews and many special friends. Besides his wife and parents, Walter was predeceased by one brother, Gerald and brother in-law Reginald Atherton. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday June 20, 2006 at 2pm from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel with Rev. Terry Atkinson officiating. Interment will take place in the Douglas Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Veteran's Health Unit would be appreciated by the family.
