VELMA DARLING MACDONALD

MACDONALD, VELMA DARLING Velma D. (Briggs) MacDonald of Meductic and formerly of Woodstock passed away June 20, 2006 at Carleton Manor, Woodstock. Born in Temperance Vale in 1916, she was a daughter of the Bird and Susan J. (Cronkhite) Briggs. Velma was a member of the Woodstock Baptist Church and the Helen Good Mission Circle. She attended the Meductic United Baptist Church and was a member of the Seniors groups in both Woodstock and Meductic. Velma loved to quilt. She is survived by a daughter, Christine Cummings (Hauley), Meductic; two sons, Morris MacDonald (Gerry), Marysville and Bertram (Bunny) MacDonald (Frances), Woodstock; a sister, Bertha Stairs (Elmo), Hawkshaw; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Velma was predeceased by her husband, Darrell F. MacDonald, an infant daughter, Deltha Fern and two brothers, Haldean Briggs and Charles Briggs. Resting at Meductic United Baptist Church, 391 Route 165, Meductic with visiting hours Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the church on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dale Greer officiating. Interment in Woodstock Rural Cemetery. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Velma, the family has suggested the Stained Glass Window Restoration at Woodstock Baptist Church or the Meductic United Baptist Church or charity of donor's choice.
