WILLIAM EDGAR ELLIOTT

ELLIOTT, WILLIAM EDGAR Peacefully at the Veteran's Health Unit, Fredericton, NB, surrounded by his loving family on July 16, 2006 William Edgar Elliott husband of Cleo A. (Seamans) Elliott of New Maryland, NB. Born in Victoria Corner, NB on March 9th, 1918, he was the son of the late Henry and Marion (Sommers) Elliott. A loving husband, father and grandfather he is survived by his wife, daughter-in-law, Helen of Shediac, NB, and her son William (Beth) Elliott and their two children; Liam and Karen of Kingston, NS. Two daughters; Geraldine (Gordon) Steeves and their daughter, Jill of Fredericton NB, Judith (David) Shaffer of Riverglade NB and their children Chloe and Logan and several nieces, nephews anc cousins. William was predeceased by his son, Henry and three sisters; Myra, Ruth and Bertha. Following his schooling, Bill worked in the woods. Once World War II began, Bill and a group of friends enlisted in Woodstock, NB, joining the Carleton York Regiment. He was stationed at Camp Utopia where he met and married Cloe A. Seamans on August 20th, 1943. The couple was blessed with three children, Henry, Geraldine, and Judith. Sadly, Henry was lost to them a short time before his 23rd birthday. Preceding his military discharge, Bill became a licensed mechanic and operated his own business having returned to Woodstock, NB. Eventally, Bill accepted a position with the NB Liquor Commission and remained with the commision until his retirement in 1983. His work took him from Woodstock to Saint Andrews to Nackawic, NB. Following his retirement Bill and Cleo moved to New Maryland, NB. Bill's interests were first and foremost his family, followed by the sport of hockey, keeping up with Canadian politics and gardening. He was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Southhampton Branch # 27 of Nackawic. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB from where the service will be held at The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, July 19th, 2006, at 2 pm with Rev. Charles Yerxa officiating, interment to follow in the St. George Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Donations to The Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. (www.stgeorgefh.ca)
