MOTT, GEORGE EDWARD George Edward Mott - 81, of Kentville, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 2, 2006 surrounded by his family after a short but valiant battle with cancer in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. George was born on November 12, 1924 in Fredericton Junction, New Brunswick, the son of the late Chester K. Mott and Lessie (Pride) Mott. George spent his entire working career of 43 years with the Canadian Pacific Railway and it's subsidiary, the Dominion Atlantic Railway, retiring in 1984 as Bridge and Building Master. George attended the Kentville United Baptist Church. His hobbies were gardening, fishing, travelling and carpentry. He especially enjoyed crafting treasures for his beloved children and grandchildren. He is survived by his second wife, Marjorie (Johnstone) Mott; son George Jr. (Eva) Mott, Canterbury, New Brunswick; daughter, Carol (Lowell) Weir, Bedford and son, David (Mary-Jo) MacLaughlin, Bangor, Maine; his grandchildren, Pauline Mott, Madeline Mott, Lauren Weir, Kyle Weir, Sam Weir and Mark MacLaughlin; brother, Chester Mott, Tracy, New Brunswick; sister, Nellie (Gordon) Charters, Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, the former Pauline Sherman; his sister, Elsie (Mott) Nason. By George's request, there was no visitation. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006 in the Kentville United Baptist Church, Reverend John McNally officiating. A reception followed at the Christian Education Centre of the church. Burial was held at the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Donations in memory were made to the Sharing Way, c/o the Kentville United Baptist Church or the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
