SAUNDERS, JOHN FRASER The death of John Fraser Saunders of Fredericton, NB occurred Thursday, August 17th, 2006 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. John is survived by his companion and best friend, Steven Fletcher; his children, Shari (friend Shaun),Stephen (Kathy) and Caroline (Hunter) and their mother Marcia; his mother, Nora; sisters, Karin Duplessis (Bernard) and Barbara Tessier (Martin). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Luke, Jacob, and Scott Saunders, Charlotte and Angus Scott. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. John was predeceased by his father, Frank. Since his retirement from Tourism, Culture and Heritage, John has gone out of his way to help people in need and to organize many innovative fundraising projects for a wide variety of causes. John works tirelessly in each and every cause he commits to. Some of the groups he has helped have been Hospathon, AIDS, NB, Botanical Garden Association, SPCA, as well as cultural and artistic projects such as the Christina Sabat lecture and the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. John goes beyond the basic fundraising. He becomes closely associated with the numerous people themselves, particularly when there is a need for personal help and comfort. Many groups and many individuals recognize his thoughtfulness and kindness. John opens his home to many of the strategy and organizational committees. His home is often the center of many of these fundraising events. Resting at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home with visiting hours Saturday from 7-9 pm and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church on Monday, August 21st, 2006 at 2:00 pm with Rev. J.J. Dolan as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Hermitage Cemetery.
