ROBERTA MAUDE SCOTT
SCOTT, ROBERTA MAUDE It is with sadness that the death of Roberta Maude Scott is announced. Roberta, a resident of Fredericton, passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on September 15, 2006, at age 85. Roberta was born at home in Bathurst, New Brunswick, the third daughter of the late John Loane and the late Maude (Branch) Loane. She was educated in the schools in Bathurst and graduated from the Provincial Normal School. Prior to her marriage to R. Gordon (Scotty) Scott and their move to Fredericton in 1951, she taught at Bathurst High School. As her family grew up, she returned to the school system, teaching mathematics at Albert Street Junior High School. With the benefit of a sabbatical, she was able to complete her university studies, graduating with a Bachelor of Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts degrees from St. Thomas University. She was an active member of her church, Wilmot United, where she was a Life Member of the Wilmot UCW, and many community organizations, including the IODE, in which she was a Life Member of the Provincial Chapter and active in the Sir Leonard Tilley Chapter, and the DECH Hospital Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, and her older sisters, Marjorie R. Loane and Dorothy E. Carruthers. She is survived by her sons, Richard J. Scott, Q.C. of Fredericton and David L. Scott (Deanna Hawkins-Scott) of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, five grandchildren, Joseph, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Rachel and Christie, her younger sister, Harriet Scott (Elmer) of Moncton, and four nieces and nephews. Arrangements are in care of McAdam's Funeral Home, Fredericton. Sunday, September 17th, 2006 from 7-9 pm and Monday September 18th, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 19th, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Wilmot United Church, with the Rev. Chris Levan officiating, followed by a reception. Cremation at McAdam's Crematorium with interment in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wilmot United Church, the Chalmers Regional Hospital Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. www.mcadamsfh.com
