YERXA, ALBERT MELBOURNE The passing of Albert Melbourne Yerxa of 149 Tripp Settlement Road, Keswick, NB, occurred at York Manor, Fredericton, NB on October 26, 2006 with his three daughters at his side. He was born in 1920 at Mouth of Keswick, NB, the eldest son of the late Moses and Ella (Hagerman) Yerxa and husband of the late Violet E.H. Yerxa. He was a member of the Mouth of Keswick United Baptist Church. Mr. Yerxa spent his early years as a logger, sawmill operator and carpenter. He was interested in woodlands and wildlife. He worked for NB Power during the Mactaquac Dam construction. After this, he worked with D.O.T. primarily at the Springhill Highway scales. Later years, along with his wife, he enjoyed a local mail delivery. Mr. Yerxa keenly gathered family records, historical items and was a member of the Yerxa Association. He had a life-long interest in the Mouth of Keswick Cemetery. He compiled a detailed record plan of the cemetery and served committees. Mr. Yerxa is survived by three daughters, Sylvia (Harold) Sharpe, Annis (Elwood) Sharpe, Marie (John) MacPhee all of the Keswick area; daughter-in-law, Elaine Yerxa also of Keswick; several grandchildren; great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, of New Brunswick, Ontario and Alberta. He is survived by two brothers, Guy (Jean) Yerxa of Fredericton, Sherman (Shirley) Yerxa of Keswick; one sister, Ethel Taylor of Bear River, NS; one sister-in-law, Bernice Yerxa of Burtt's Corner and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wife's passing in 1997, he was predeceased by two sons, Dellas Yerxa in 1942 and Daniel Yerxa in 2005; two brothers-in-law Glendon Taylor and Clifford Yerxa and one sister-in-law Louise Yerxa. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Saturday, October 28, 2006 from 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Mouth of Keswick United Baptist Church, Keswick, NB on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at 3:30pm with Rev. Jonathan McKay officiating, assisted by Mr. Yerxa's grandson, Pastor of Worship Gary Sharpe. Interment will be held in the Mouth of Keswick Cemetery. Active pallbearers are grandsons, Philip Sharpe, Rodney Sharpe, Mike MacPhee, John Jones and nephews, Ray Yerxa, John Yerxa, Dellas Taylor and Arnold Goos. Ushers for the service are nephews, Philip Black and Keith Taylor. Memorial donations to the Keswick Cemetery Fund would be appreciated by the family.
