BUCHANAN, GERTRUDE ELIZABETH (GERTIE) Gertrude (Gertie) Elizabeth Buchanan passed away peacefully at Carleton Manor Woodstock on November 1, 2006. Gertie was born in Boston, Mass. on December 31, 1907, the daughter of the late Sylvester and Harriett (Armstrong) Lane. Gertie was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly in Florenceville during her working career she was a retired nurse at the Presque Isle Hospital and a she operated the nursing station at Mccain Foods in Florenceville. she was also an instructor for the St. John Ambulance. Besides that, Gertie really loved her flowers and really enjoyed creating beautiful arrangements for various occasions. She loved to bake pies for everyone, always thinking of others before herself. Gertie is survived by her son Charles (Thelma)of Fredericton, 2 grandchildren, Heidi (Dave ) Northrup of Grand Lake and Jay (Rachel) Buchanan of Fredericton, 1 great grandchild Coen Buchanan. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Herbert, sisters, Alma, Margaret Lane, Irene Hallett, Phyllis Harper, brothers, Wilmot, Donald and Edison Lane. Resting at Kilcollins Chapel Florenceville on Friday October 3, 2006, 6-9 pm. Funeral service will be on Saturday October 4th at 2:00 pm from Kilcollins Chapel Florenceville, Rev. Ken Stoddard and Rev. Paul Smith to officiate. interment will be in the Royalton Cemetery. Donations may be made to a memorial of the donor's choice. www.kilcollins.com
