FREDERICK C. (TEDDY) NORTHRUP
NORTHRUP, FREDERICK C. (TEDDY) 1943-2006 Fred Northrup, 63 of Boundary Creek passed away Thursday, November 30/06, at the Moncton Hospital after a very brief battle with cancer. Born in Moncton, he was the only child of the late Perley and Edna (McQuinn) Northrup. Fred is survived by his loving and devoted wife Lana (Horsman), and his three children; Wendy (David Highmore) Northrup of Boundary Creek, Cindy (Loren) Speiran of Riverview, and Larry (Lesley) Northrup of Moncton, and his and four grandchildren, Keira, Georgia, and Isabella Northrup, and Calvin Speiran. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law Larry Horsman, several cousins and many close friends. Fred remained close to Eileen Beaman (the mother of his children) and her husband Byron. He was predeceased by his parents. Fred started his career as a machinist with Canadian National Railway. He soon after, realized he wanted to pursue his dream of opening his own business. That dream became reality in 1968 when he established Toys for Big Boys Ltd., where he remained President. In his most recent years of semi-retirement, he loved spending time at his old farmhouse at Long Creek, and his camp in Elgin. One of his favorite pastimes was touring his properties on his ATV or Mule. He also enjoyed restoring his old tractors and using them to work on his properties. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed all that went with it; he especially loved gathering with the boys at the Shepody for moose season. He had a great love and respect for animals, big and small. Fred was founder of the Moncton Chapter of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) and was also a long time member of the Elks Club. He was a member of many associations including; the Albert County Hunters Assoc., Ducks Unlimited, Havelock Sportsman Club, Lake Petiticodiac Preservation Association (LPPA) and he sat on many committees pertaining to Toys for Big Boys. Fred was a kind and generous man who touched many lives and will be sadly missed. Visitation will be held from Fair Haven Funeral Home on Monday, December 4th, 2006 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, December 5th, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Donations to any charity would be appreciated by the family.
