RUTH MARIE BRIDGES

BRIDGES, RUTH MARIE It is with sorrow and regret that the family of Ruth Marie Bridges announces her passing. She died quietly, at home, with loved ones by her side, on January 8th, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Born in Saint John, NB, on June 19th, 1911, she was the only daughter of the late Frederick and Elsie (Earl) Perley. Her two brothers, Ronald and Sylvester, predeceased her. She grew up in Wolsey, Saskatchewan, and, following the death of her mother, returned to New Brunswick, living in Sheffield until her marriage to Arthur Bridges in 1929. They made their home at McGowan's Corner, where they both operated a store and service station for 30 years. Upon retirement she moved with her husband Arthur to Lakeville Corner, and lived there, happily, until his death. In both villages she was known and respected as a wonderful neighbor and caring friend, always finding time to help a family in time of illness or loss of a loved one. She leaves to mourn three daughters, Gene Marie (Clive) Roberts of Fredericton, Evelyn Briggs, also of Fredericton, and Elaine (Kenneth) Sparks of Rothesay. She is survived as well by seven grandchildren: Kimberly and Derrick Briggs, Sean, Eric and Jocelyn Sparks and Susan and Mary Roberts, and leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation, or memorial service, at this time, by her request. A graveside service will be held, tentatively, on her birthday, June 19th, 2007, at the family plot in Lakeville Corner, New Brunswick. The family wishes to take this opportunity to thank: Dr. Russell King for his attention to her needs during the time of her illness; her caregivers, Judy Keddie and Lucy Howe for their compassionate care during this same period; and the extra- mural nursing staff for their kindness and support. Ruth was a passionate in her love of animals of all kinds. Her cat Nicki was a cherished companion in her final years. For those who wish, donations may be made to the local S.P.C.A. McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. www.mcadamsfh.com (459-9180)
